Massage Therapy

Massage Room
Most people know that massage therapy is a proven and effective means of relaxation and stress relief.  Massage therapy can also provide a number of therapeutic benefits, including:

  • Reducing Stress and Tension
  • Improving   Flexibility
  • Increasing Endorphins-the Body’s Natural Painkillers
  • Assisting in Recovery from Sports Activities and Injuries
  • Strenthening the Immune System
  • Improving Circulation Problems
  • Alleviating Chronic and Temporary Pain

Common Types of Massage Therapy

There are many types of massage.  A licensed therapist will be able to help you discover the type that benefits you most.

Swedish Massage:  The most common type of massage; given to relax, reduce stress, and increase circulation and range of motion.

Deep Tissue Massage: A massage with firmer pressure that works deeply into the muscles and connective tissues to release chronic aches and pains.

Neuromuscular Therapy:
Used to stop spasms and pain by applying pressure to specific points in the muscles that are painfully irritated (trigger points).

Sports Massage: To help prevent athletic injury, keep the body flexible, and assist in the recovery process.

Chair Massage: Massage given while you are fully clothed and seated in a special portable chair.

Reflexology: To help improve circulation and relaxation.  Thumb pressure on specific reflex points of the feet and hands stimulates corresponding areas in other parts of the body.

Know the Facts

Serious damage to the body can occur if massage therapy is done inappropriately or by someone not properly trained.  Your massage therapist should  have completed  specialized training in anatomy, physiology, hydrotherapy and basic types of massage.  They also should have passed a national examination that tests their massage therapy skills.

How Will My Massage Feel?

Some muscle or muscle knots are so tender that even a light touch may be uncomfortable. Uncomfortable pain should not be part of your relaxation massage. Your massage therapist will solicit your feedback regularly in order to avoid any unnecessary discomfort. Advanced Motion Therapeutic wants help you feel wonderful.

And After My Massage?

Massage loosens “toxins” from your muscles, especially from those knots. Drink lots of water to rid your body of those toxins. Water is essential for your body. Our goals are to make you feel  wonderful and to help you stay healthy.
